Podiatry Treatments

We are delighted that Maidenhead Podiatry has been accredited by the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists for both our in-clinic and domiciliary services. This means that we have reviewed our practice standards to ensure that they comply with national standards and best practice within the profession.

In achieving accredited status, we have undertaken a careful review of the practice which has been checked and verified by the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.

We applied for practice accreditation because we believe that our clients have the right to be confident that care is being provided within a safe and healthy environment.

With a range of other criteria the scheme also ensures that:

  • Reusable instruments are properly cleaned and sterilised between patients
  • Staff engage in continuing professional development to keep their knowledge and skills up to date
  • Patient confidentiality is respected and proper care is taken with patient information
  • We explain treatment options, where appropriate, and cost so that patients can make an informed choice
  • Appropriate referral pathways exist for patients, who need specialist care
  • Practice working methods are constantly reviewed.
Podiatry Treatments

General Foot Care

We are equipped to deal with any foot problem.

Many of the people who attend our clinic come for treatment of everyday foot care concerns such as nail trimming, thickened nails, corns and hard skin removal.

Some seek relief from soreness, pain and discomfort, while others wish to improve the appearance of their feet to display them with confidence.

Ingrowing Toenails

Ingrowing toenails are often caused by poor nail cutting or accidental damage leading to the nail growing into the flesh at the side of the toe.

In most cases this can be resolved painlessly by carefully removing the spur and dressing the toe to prevent infection during healing.

Verucca

Verrucas, a viral infection of the skin can be a problem at any age and although we offer an alternative for young children,

Cryosurgery (or freezing) and Dry Needling and Swift (microwave) is offered for the treatment of stubborn verrucas.

Nail Surgery

Sometimes ingrowing toenails are too deep or too painful to be treated conservatively - nail surgery is needed to carefully remove the side of the nail and a chemical is applied to ensure it does not re-grow.

This procedure takes less than an hour, is performed under local anaesthetic and the patient can walk in and walk out.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy (SWT) is a tried, tested and well researched treatment used in physiotherapy since the 1990s. It has gained popularity due to it’s effectiveness and application across a wide range of professions.

SWT is used in rehabilitation, podiatry, chiropractic, physiotherapy, orthopaedics, veterinary medicine, aesthetics and dermatology.

SWT is used by both our podiatrists and our chiropractors to treat a variety of conditions reducing pain and improving range of movement.

Swift (microwave)

Swift verruca treatment is an innovative new technology, developed in the UK, which has been licenced for the general treatment of verrucas and warts in Podiatry.

Swift uses microwave energy delivered through a special probe applied to the skin to treat the affected tissue.
