July 9, 2015: Top tips to longer-lasting nails this summer!

We all know how frustrating it is when your beautiful, polished nails begin to look chipped and worn.  So here are some top tips to help keep your nails looking lovely, for longer:

  1. Nail Biting & Nibbling: Probably brought on by stress or nerves, biting and nibbling the nails is one of the most common ways to ruin a pretty polish. We recommend the use of Solar Oil; applied as soon as the urge to nibble starts. Apply the oil as the massage effect is therapeutic and calming and they cuticles/nails will be conditioned and moisturised.
  1. Perfume: Amazingly, perfume (in very small quantities) contains many of the same ingredients as nail polish remover and will start to wear away polish if it is sprayed too close to the nails. It’s always a good idea to wash your hands after a spray of scent and an application of Solar Oil to the cuticles will moisturise your nails too.

  1. Hair Spray: Similar to perfume, hair spray also has many chemicals like polish remover. Don’t go running your freshly painted nails through your sprayed hair.
  1. Washing Up: It’s so easy to forget the washing up gloves but soaking your hands in hot water with washing-up liquid will cause the polish to start lifting off the nail.  So, love your gloves!
  1. Suncream: A vital and important protectant for your skin but it will ruin your polish. The ingredients can soften varnish, gel polish and even dissolve acrylic nails! We recommend that hands are thoroughly washed after application of sun tan lotion to keep your nails looking fabulous!
  1. Household cleaning: Many household cleaning products contain acetone. When cleaning, it is advisable to wear gloves, thoroughly wash your hands afterwards and then apply Solar Oil and a favourite hand cream.
